Spinal Cord Stimulator Generator Replacement
Spinal cord stimulator (SCS) generator replacement is a minor surgical procedure to replace the battery of an implanted stimulator when it reaches the end of its lifespan. Depending on the device, the battery may be rechargeable or non-rechargeable.
The procedure is typically done on an outpatient basis with sedation. The existing leads remain in place while the generator is replaced through a small incision, usually at the original implant site.
